WEEE-NET9.SPEED Conference – 27 November 2025, Athens

The WEEE-NET9.SPEED Conference will take place on 27 November 2025 at the MONOLITHOS Training Centre in Athens, bringing together project partners, industry representatives, researchers, and stakeholders active in the field of Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) management and critical raw materials recovery.

Hosted by Monolithos Catalysts & Recycling Ltd., the event will focus on a range of innovative approaches and emerging technologies that aim to improve the efficiency, sustainability, and circularity of Europe’s WEEE value chain. Participants will have the opportunity to explore new technological solutions, mechanochemical methods, digital tools, machine-learning applications, hydrometallurgical processes, as well as policy developments that support more effective recycling pathways and circular economy practices.

About WEEE-NET9.SPEED

The WEEE-NET9.SPEED project builds upon the achievements of the WEEE-NET9 initiative, with a specific goal of upscaling the existing bioleaching technology from TRL 4–5 to TRL 7. The project aims to accelerate the introduction of this process into the global market by strengthening early partnerships, securing reliable e-waste feedstock, and ensuring that recovered critical raw materials (CRMs) can be reintegrated into industrial supply chains. Special emphasis is placed on supporting regional innovation capacity in RIS countries, contributing to more resilient and sustainable CRM value chains across Europe.

The project is coordinated by ZAG – Slovenian National Building and Civil Engineering Institute, with partners Monolithos Catalysts & Recycling Ltd., PROMEA, the University of Miskolc, EKOSIJ, and PowerHUB. It is supported by EIT RawMaterials and co-funded by the European Union.

Conference Programme

According to the official agenda the conference programme will include presentations on technological advancements in WEEE recycling, policy and research perspectives, digitalisation solutions for end-of-life products, hydrometallurgical innovations, as well as a dedicated visit to the MONOLITHOS facilities. The event is designed to foster knowledge exchange, highlight emerging opportunities, and encourage collaboration between actors in the WEEE and raw materials sectors.
